Southport Rugby Club
Founded in 1872, this is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world. A tremendously successful amateur rugby club with teams at every age level from Under 5s through to veterans and three ladies teams.
Southport RFC has won awards for its contribution to the local community and its long-standing policy of developing its junior teams is now paying off for the current senior teams. A friendly, family-orientated club that makes local supporters and visitors feel very welcome. It's a privilege for us to photograph this great club.
Southport & Birkdale Sports Club
This is the home of Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club, Southport Hockey Club, Birkdale Lawn Tennis Club, Southport & Birkdale Squash Club and Southport & Birkdale Snooker Club - all of whom keep us busy with our sports photography!
"S&B" is one of Lancashire County Cricket Club's outfield grounds, along with Blackpool and Liverpool. In 2018 the Club will host Lancashire's match against Worcestershire and looks forward to hosting more Lancashire CCC matches in the future.
Junior cricket matches are normally played in the evening, when the rich light of a west coast sunset produces dramatic images of bright cricket whites and deep shadows.
